DO YOU OFTEN FIND YOURSELF BEING FORCED BY THE ASS TO ENJOY "NEW AND IMPROVED"
WITH NONE OF YOUR PERSONAL CONSENT BEING TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION
AND SUDDENLY, ALL THE FEATURES THAT WERE INCREDIBLY EASY TO COMPREHEND AND USE BEFORE
ARE NOW HIDDEN BEHIND 4 MORE CLICKS, TWO MORE CONTEXT MENUS, A REQUIRED LOGIN, TO THEN FIND THAT IT IS NOW AN INFERIOR VERSION OF WHAT IT WAS ONCE BEFORE?
quality of life is being gatekept
this kind of thing happens way too often for it to not be intentional. it happens to be so blatantly purposeful, that the average fluoride person is aware of it - but it just continues to happen
it has nothing to do with improving the experience for the user, it has everything to do with destroying their experience and making it as uncomfortable as possible.
but what is the logic behind doing this? why would a company like Microsoft or Google decide to take their recently purchased IP and suddenly move its useful features to nonsensical, near inaccessible places in the GUI?
what is the reasoning behind a perfectly functioning, usable website, being bought out for a significant amount of money by a large corporation, 3 months later it is unusable and everything is worse? why does this happen so often?
it happens for the same reason that the only way to get help with a problem you're having is to first go through an AI chatbot, then get put through to agent hamzah, who takes 5 whole minutes of your time to copy and pastes a vague article from a decade ago from the website's FAQ section, then closes the chat on you.
it is for learned hopelessness. these companies know that their product is necessary for your work life, they know that by trying an alternative product you make yourself a black sheep and nobody will be able to work with you because you don't use the same technology. they have you wrapped around their finger.
and since these same people are also incredibly religious, they see you as cattle and want you to suffer hopelessly just like them and their dead gods.
CRT monitors had no input lag, google's algorithm could find you a simple answer immediately, niche internet forums had treasure troves of useful information, everybody had the option of being anonymous, user customized experiences were abundant, you used to pay for software and own the software immediately instead of having to pay monthly, you used to be able to go down the street to a local butchers and get your own meat from an actual human being who you knew wasnt trying to lace you with poison, get your bread freshly cooked from a bakery with natural real ingredients, get your clothes custom tailored to suit you comfortably to your own specifications, you'd have over 100 days off work, you could just walk down the street and get a job with no credentials or experience
the only thing that has improved quality of life is amazon prime delivery. thats about it, and thats just for convenience. convenience is barely a quality of life improvement, since it comes with a ton of side-effects that cause further damage to civilization.
